About This Release
Labelle's album "Nightbirds" pressed on 180gr orange (Marmalade) vinyl. This Vinyl Me, Please exclusive release to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the album was VMP Essentials Record Of The Month in January 2024. It includes a 12" booklet of listening notes by Sasha Geffen and a 12" art print by Jean Pierre Consuegra.
Originally released in 1974, Nightbirds blends funk, soul, R&B and glam-rock influences with the trio’s powerful vocals and boundary-pushing style. Produced by Allen Toussaint in New Orleans, the album became Labelle’s commercial breakthrough and features their iconic No. 1 hit “Lady Marmalade,” alongside “What Can I Do for You?” and the title track.
